First Time Love was composed during the winter of 2015 while I was studying abroad at the Royal College of Music in London. The piece attempts to encapsulate the ebullient feelings one feels when they fall in love for the first time. This tune is a great one to expose younger brass players to jazz music through chamber playing. It features an extended solo section where members of the quintet can play a written out solo or just play through the changes.
