Even When He Is Silent was originally composed as a gorgeous ballad of hope for SATB voices. The original text was written by a man of the Jewish of faith who was hiding in Cologne, Germany, during World War 2. The text was found scratched onto a wall and reads:

I believe in the sun even when it’s not shining.

I believe in love even when I feel it not.

I believe in God even when He is silent.
