Program Notes
This arrangement of the traditional Irish ballad Danny Boy came about from the request of my grandfather, William Edward Davern. The song has always been a favorite of his, so I decided to arrange the piece for wind quintet in celebration of my grandparent’s 60th Wedding Anniversary. The arrangement was later re-orchestrated for brass quintet and later recorded by myself and my father, Bill Davern. This arrangement is dedicated to my grandparents, William Edward Davern & Alice Bandru Davern.
