Program Notes
Bad Sneakers is song composed by Donald Fagen and Walter Becker of Steely Dan. It is the second track on Steely Dan’s 1975 album Katy Lied and the tune was later arranged for jazz ensemble in the summer of 2018. Steely Dan is one of my favorite bands ever and I wanted to flush out a high school level jazz band arrangement to expose more students to the wonderful music of Steely Dan. The arrangement features the lead tenor sax, along with all sections of the band later in the chart.
