Program Notes
The gorgeousness and quirkiness of the music of Stephen Sondheim is now finally set for the low brass idiom, with a version of Agony from Into the Woods arranged for two trombones and rhythm section. While the swing style and rhythmic modifications of this version is a slight departure from the original rendition, the harmonies and vocal melodies of Sondheim’s vision are at the heart of this arrangement. All rhythm section parts are required and this arrangement would make a great closer for any collegiate or professional recital!
